Channel 2 Action News has obtained video of a blatant security breach at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport just feet from the runways.
The video shows a woman standing inside the airport's cellphone parking lot throwing a bag with unknown contents up and over the security fence to a male worker waiting on the other side.
When the bag gets stuck on the barbed wire, the worker climbs the fence to get it.
"That didn't inspire confidence in the security of the airport," said passenger Scott Gattis, who shot the video.
Investigative reporter Aaron Diamant spoke exclusively with Gattis on Monday. Gattis said he shot the video last Saturday before boarding a flight to Tampa.
"Something needs to change," Gattis told Diamant. "That could have been something dangerous, and it's really putting everyone who flies at risk."
Diamant took the video straight to air safety expert Brent Brown, who told Diamant he's not just worried about what may have been in the bag.
"It's obvious that they're not concerned that security is going to be on top of them," Brown said. "It tells me that this is not the first time. It was a predetermined location. I mean, how would they know where to meet?"
Since the man in the video is standing next to a Delta Air Lines luggage truck both Delta and airport officials are trying to identify both the worker and the woman.
Airport spokeswoman Myrna White sent Diamant an email saying, "We will take appropriate action to ensure employees understand their responsibility for complying with airport policies and procedures and the consequences of failing to comply."
Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant said the airline has "no tolerance for clear breaches of security protocols."
Diamant showed the video to several people in the cellphone lot on Monday.
"I just think it's really appalling," said Bernice, who would not give her last name. "They've got security inside and just as much security should be on the outside."
Meanwhile, TSA spokesman Jon Allen told Diamant perimeter security is the airport's responsibility, but it's assisting with the investigation.
Channel 2 Action News is still working to confirm the identity of the worker and the woman seen in the video and how many laws they may have broken.
