WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. —
Severe weather impacted much of the Channel 11 viewing area Friday, with Washington County seeing some serious flooding issues.Channel 11’s Cara Sapida reported that firefighters had to shut down roads in the city of Washington as cars were barely able to make it along the roads.“The barricades that the Fire Department put up just floated away,” said Rob Ringer of Washington.People who work off of Jefferson Avenue said in mere minutes, the road flooded.“There was a guy at the Advanced Auto Parts here was on an inner tube floating in the parking lot,” said Ringer.Cameron Stadium, Washington and Jefferson College’s football field, was covered in water when Chopper 11 flew over it earlier Friday.People who live across from the stadium said they have never seen the water that high.“It happens when it rains, but this is pretty bad. I can see the football field is even covered,” said Rick Danley of Washington.Sonja Wilson said she could not even get to her home.“I'm hoping they do something about this. This is the worst it's ever been,” said Wilson. The councilman for the Washington area said there is a plan in place for flooding damage.
