The weather cooperates for the "unofficial" start of summer!
There will be near-record heat this weekend. Temperatures will shoot to near 90 Saturday and Sunday. On Memorial Day, the mercury will crack 90 degrees. Keep the sunscreen handy -- the UV Index should be around 8 or 9. That's the National Weather Service's forecast for ultraviolet radiation from the sun, rated on a scale of 1 to 11. Be on the lookout for scattered showers and thunderstorms each day, although no day should be a washout.
