KENNEDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
A woman was arrested after police said she was seen dragging and throwing her son to the ground at a King’s Restaurant in Kennedy Township.
Police said 31-year-old Anna Watson took her 1-year-old son to the King’s Restaurant on Steubenville Pike last week while she was drunk and high. In front of a crowded restaurant, authorities said she began abusing him.
Kennedy Township Police said she was lifting the child by the arm and dragging him behind her. Officials said she threw the child to the ground and told him that she was tired of no one caring about them.
Channel 11’s Cara Sapida was told by a witness that the woman looked as though she was going to pull her child’s arm out of the socket and that she was dragging the boy across the parking lot when police arrived.
“It seemed like she didn’t really care what she was doing to the kid,” a witness said.
Witnesses also said even after police arrived, the chaos didn’t stop. Watson was seen kicking and hitting one of the officers, refusing to let them take her son.
Derek Walas, Watson’s ex-boyfriend and father of the 1-year-old, picked his son up at the Kennedy Township Police Station after Watson was arrested.
“I was very upset and aggravated,” said Walas. “He had a scratch on his back and a lump on his forehead.”
Police said Watson isn’t facing drunken driving charges because she walked to the restaurant. Officials said she was staying at the Motel Six right behind the restaurant.
The local magistrate said Watson faces felony child endangerment charges, as well as assault on a police officer.
