Magazine Names Pirates’ McCutchen Rookie Of Year

A Pirates rookie received a big honor Monday morning from a national magazine.

“Baseball America” named Andrew McCutchen the 2009 Major League Rookie of the Year.

McCutchen plays centerfield for the Buccos.

He batted .286 this year and led all National League rookies with 47 extra-base hits.

The magazine’s cover will feature the Pirate centerfielder when it hits newsstands.

Meanwhile, first baseman Garrett Jones was named to the All-Rookie team.
