Man Accused Of Assaulting Child In Bethel Park Municipal Bldg.

BETHEL PARK, Pa. —

Police arrested a Bethel Park man and accused him of sexually abusing a 7-year-old boy Saturday afternoon.

According to the criminal complaint, Donald Miller, 18, assaulted the boy in the restroom of the Bethel Park Municipal Building. The building houses the library and the police department.

Police said Miller forced the boy into a stall and threatened him with a knife while the assault took place.

Miller left the building after the assault and was observed on a surveillance camera by police.

"After the incident was reported our officers reviewed the video surveillance from the dispatch center and from survellance footage were able to ID the suspect," said Police chief John Mackey.

Miller was arrested a short time later. Police said he still had the weapon on him.

"It was reported at the time that the assailant was carrying a knife. When the officer arrested him at a relative's home he did find a knife on his person," Mackey said.

Miller was charged with eight different counts, including sexual assault, indecent assault, deviant sexual intercourse and recklessly endangering another person.

He is being held on $1 million straight bond and is scheduled to appear before a Bethel Park magistrate on March 2.

The crime has people using the municipal building using a lot more caution.

"I think it can happen anywhere, at anytime. It's not to say we are not safe, but I think it's the fact we all have to again, keep an eye on our community, watch what's going on," said Bethel Park resident Jonathan Vogel.
