Man Called Hero For Saving Residents From Burning Home

CHARTIERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A Chartiers Township man is being credited with saving the lives of those living in a home that went up in flames early Sunday morning.

Eric Williams discovered the blaze at about 4 a.m. and alerted everyone inside the home. Williams even helped rescue his girlfriend, who was trapped in a bedroom.

"I was trying to escape out of the bedroom, and I couldn't go nowhere due to the fire," said Joette Doty.

"You don't have a lot of time to think in a situation like that," said Williams. "You start moving. It was a lot of fire and smoke, so I just pulled her out the side window."

Williams told firefighters he was awakened by the heat of the flames.

The fire marshal is still working to determine the cause, but the homeowner believes the fire started with faulty wiring in the garage.
