PITTSBURGH —
Joshua Stone, 20, surrendered to police on Saturday, although he and his family always insisted on his innocence.
Stone spent three days in jail before charges were dropped.
His family was thrilled.
“There were a lot of tears,” Stone’s mother, Chere Dickerson, told Channel 11 News reporter Vince Sims. “Everybody ran out of the court room ‘cause we didn’t want to be in there anymore. We were very happy and very satisfied that the girl came in and said Joshua wasn't the shooter."
Stone did not want to comment because no other suspects have been arrested in this case. But, he said, he will now move on with plans of continuing his education.
"I'm just glad it's over,” Dickerson said. “I don't have any animosity towards anyone.”
Police sought Stone because investigators said a woman who was shot in the face during a double shooting Feb. 27 identified Stone as the gunman. Her friend was also shot while they were at a house on Walcott Street, police said.
Stone's family then made him surrender to authorities.
