Man Dies After 6-Story Fall In White Oak

WHITE OAK, Pa. —

Officials in White Oak said a man working on the roof of an apartment building died after he fell six stories.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office said Robert Barncord, 29, of McKeesport, was working for a roofing company to fix a chimney on the Royal Oak Apartment complex.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 2 p.m. Monday after someone from the apartment complex called 911.

Medics were unable to revive Barncord and pronounced him dead on the scene.

A close friend and coworker said Barncord loved the outdoors, people and liked to socialize.

"He was a great guy, an excellent guy," said Mark Nemeth. "I've known him for years. What a way to go, huh? I don't know what else to say. He liked fishing. We go out, tip a couple after work, just like any other hard-working guy."

Police continue to investigate.
