Man Gets 3-6 Years In Fatal Route 50 Crash

WASHINGTON, Pa. —

A Robinson Township man has been sentenced to three to six years in prison in a head-on crash that killed two college students almost a year ago.

Charles Cooper, 20, pleaded guilty Monday in Washington County Court to two counts of homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He also pleaded guilty to theft, corruption of minors and possession of drug paraphernalia in three unrelated cases.

Authorities said Cooper was driving a vehicle that ran head-on into another vehicle on May 16 on Route 50 in Mount Pleasant Township. Two Clarion University students, Michael Pleskovich, 21, of McDonald and Jenna Gilmore, 21, of Burgettstown, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Cooper admitted he had been drinking. A blood test revealed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.025 percent.
