Man Shot Inside Strip District Club; Police Look For Suspects

PITTSBURGH —

Police are investigating after a man was shot in the chest following an argument at a nightclub in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.

The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was shot inside Club 1601 along Penn Avenue shortly after 3 a.m. Monday morning.

Witnesses said the victim and his brother were inside the club drinking when a group of black males confronted them. The witness said he saw one of the men from the group walk over and shoot the victim, which is when everyone fled the club.

Medics transported the victim to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

The gunman was described as a 25-year-old man standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was clean-shaven and had shoulder-length braids and was wearing black shorts and black shirt.

Police are looking for three men who fled the scene in a gray Ford Expedition. Witnesses said they’re known to be from Homewood.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
