Man Talks To Channel 11 After Own Dog Attacked Him

INDIANA, Pa. —

Police used a Taser to free an Indiana County man being attacked by his own pit bull Monday afternoon outside his Fifth Street home.

Indiana Borough police said after being shot with the Taser , the dog, Aztec, became aggressive again and approached officers, who pulled out their guns and put down the dog.

The dog's owner, Robert Kearney, was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center for treatment of multiple bites.

On Tuesday, Kearney showed Channel 11 News his injuries. He said the pet never acted that way before.

"He bit me pretty good," said Kearney. "He was relentless. And the whole time, I kept asking Aztec, 'Why are you doing this to me? Why are you doing this?'"

A woman at the home was also treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries. No other people or officers were injured.

The dog's remains are being tested for diseases, including rabies.
