A man was shot as he was walking Friday afternoon about a block from the Zone 1 police station on Brighton Road in the North Side.
The man, who was wounded in an arm, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in stable condition, said Pittsburgh police Sgt. Robert Jurich.
Jurich said the man told him he was shot near a convenience store in the 1600 block of Brighton Road by someone in a white sport utility vehicle which sped away. The bleeding man walked into the police station around 6:20 p.m. to get help.
Police found an SUV with bullet holes abandoned a few blocks away on Overlook Street and found a gun in a wooded area near the SUV, Jurich said.
