Mars Eighth-Grader Killed In Accident

Police Say Victim's Sister Was Driving Vehicle

MARS, Pa. —

A Butler County pickup truck accident claimed the life of an eighth-grader.

Randi Stritzinger, 13, died Thursday in the accident on Denny Road in Adams Township.

Police said Randi's sister was driving the pickup truck when they crashed a mile away from Mars Middle School.

According to officials, the truck swerved off the road and hit a tree on the passenger side. Police said speed played a factor in the accident.

Grief counselors were at Mars Middle School on Friday to help children struggling with the news. Friends of Randi came back to the accident scene bearing gifts, roses and a cross.

Randi's sister suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
