Mayor, Council To Resume Work On City Recovery Plan

PITTSBURGH —

Work is scheduled to resume Monday morning on the city’s Act 47 recovery plan.

Last week, city council members voted 7-to-1 to order Mayor Luke Ravenstahl home from vacation to work with them on the plan. The mayor returned.

The plan, which is aimed at bringing Pittsburgh out of financial distress, has already caused intense debate. Hotly-contested points of the plan include freezing wages for union workers as well as tax hikes for non-profit organizations and city commuters.
