Mayor Ravenstahl Tours Storm Damage

Severe Storms Pounded Pittsburgh Area

PITTSBURGH —

Friday, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl toured some of the areas hit hardest by the storm.

Ravenstahl's tour started at the scene of a partial building collapse in the Hill District.

The collapse happened at 3 p.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of 5th Avenue.

The building housed apartments and a barber shop.

No one was hurt.

Ravenstahl said, "Fortunately, for us the third storm wasn't as violent as originally anticipated and as a result we've been able to make some progress in the City of Pittsburgh."

Ravenstahl declared the city of Pittsburgh in a state of a disaster emergency after severe storms moved through the region throughout the day on Thursday.
