Meet The Channel 11 News Team On Fox 53

WPXI-TV, Channel 11 announced Tuesday the anchor line-up for the new news relationship to be aired on WPGH, Fox 53. Last week Channel 11 and Fox 53 entered into a partnership that allows WPXI to produce the 10 p.m. news for WPGH. Beginning January 30 viewers tuning into Fox 53 at 10 p.m. will see familiar personalities David Johnson and Darieth Chisolm on the anchor desk. Chief Meteorologist Steve Teeling will do the weather and popular Fox 53 sports anchor Alby Oxenreiter has been hired by WPXI and will retain his familiar sports seat.

WPXI-TV Vice President and General Manager Ray Carter called the move “an exciting assemblage of some of the best journalists and personalities in the Pittsburgh television market.” “David and Darieth bring more than 30 years of combined experience to the anchor desk. Steve is a great meteorologist that brings credibility and plenty of energy to the local weathercast. Finally, Alby has a terrific following and great respect in the world of sports. To have such a strong team right out of the gate is really exciting. I think the viewers are going to love this team and this newscast.”

WPGH-TV General Manager Alan Frank said “we are saying goodbye to Sheila Hyland, the reporters, producers and entire staff of the Fox 53 Ten O’clock News that supported her for the past nine years. I want to thank them publicly for their professionalism and integrity that they brought to WPGH. We wish everyone the best of luck.”

WPXI-TV also announced the weekend anchor line up for the news effort. Gordon Loesch and Stacia Erdos will be the anchors while Meteorologist Kevin Benson will do the weather. Sports anchor Bill Phillips will take on the sports responsibilities. “This is a terrific group of journalists and they are already familiar faces to Pittsburgh” said Carter.
