Memorial Dedicated For Local Soldiers Killed Overseas

ROCHESTER, Pa. —

A granite bench was dedicated Saturday as a permanent memorial for two Beaver County soldiers who lost their lives overseas.

Rome Monuments of Rochester donated the bench, in honor of Sgt. Joshua Rimer and Pvt. Dylan Paytas.

Two trees were also dedicated to the soldiers at Green Valley Park.

"I realize he's not coming back. All of the sadness and disbelief in the world won't change that. But I know that what he did, why he did it, and what it means to this country does change everything," said Amy Nichols, Rimer's cousin.

The service came almost four years to the day that Paytas was shot and killed by a fellow soldier in Iraq.

Rimer died after his escort vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in July.
