Millvale Post Office To Remain Open; Carriers Relocated

MILLVALE, Pa. —

Just days after the U.S. Postal Service said it was considering ending Saturday deliveries, a local municipality learned changes are coming to its post office.

Millvale residents were told Thursday that several of their postal carriers were being relocated. Eleven carriers will be moved to the post office at McKnight Road in Ross Township, where they will pick up and deliver mail to Millvale residents.

Managers and supervisors also will be reassigned, officials said.

Two employees will remain at the Millvale Post Office on Lincoln Avenue for regular mail drop off and postage sales. The Millvale location also will continue to offer P.O. boxes.

Borough officials were not happy to hear the news.

"I do believe that no matter what they say that our mail delivery is going to be later and later," borough Manager Virginia Pucci said. “(It’s) really going to hurt the borough."

The Millvale Post Office has been around since 1863.
