Missing Cowardly Lion's Head Found In Garbage Bag

Statue's Head Stolen Earlier This Month

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. —

A cowardly crime left the Wizard of Oz lion without more than just his courage.

Earlier this month someone stole the head of the statue.

It stands at the entrance to McDonald Borough in Washington County.

Loretta Kendall, whose late husband made the figure, is pleased that a neighbor returned it.

Bob Gordon, who found the lion's head during his daily walk Sunday, wouldn't talk on camera but said he's happy about his good deed.

He found the head in a roadside garbage bag.

Now that the lion’s head is where it should be, a Toto statue is planned to be added.
