Mt. Pleasant Family Scared To Go In Yard After Bear Sighting

MT. PLEASANT, Pa. —

A family in Mt. Pleasant is concerned after a black bear made an appearance in their yard over the weekend.

Fred Weir and his wife sent pictures to iWitness11, showing the bear walking out of the woods.

"We heard a loud bang, and we came in the house. We knew the bear was here. We looked out our kitchen window, snapping pictures and we looked and here he was, taking garbage into the woods," said Weir.

The bear visited the family's yard on Friday and Saturday evening. The trail of garbage could be seen from the yard into the woods.

The big concern for the Weirs is their 4-year-old son.

"I'm concerned for my kid. He loves to play in our back yard. We love hanging out in our back yard. We have fires almost every weekend, and we're just afraid. We don't want to come out in our back yard no more," said Weir.

The family is hoping for help from the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
