PITTSBURGH —
Over his 37 years of television and radio broadcasting, the hugely popular sportscaster saved film and tape of about 100 of his performances; these were only those he thought above the ordinary -- "Stuff," Cope says, "that was so bad it was good."
Mark Barash, WPXI-TV director of programming, carried Myron's collection from his home in cardboard boxes. The final selections for "Myron's Memorable Moments" will have fans shouting, "Triple Yoi!"
Myron sings his hilarious Christmas carols, pontificates in poetry, cheers and yells at the Steelers, peers into Dr. Cope's Cope-ra-Scope, and with a magic myna bird cures Terry Bradshaw's ailing elbow. In serious moments, the first pro-football announcer elected to the National Radio Hall of Fame shares his personal life.
In retirement the past two Steelers seasons, Cope says he's been greatly touched by fans almost daily telling him, "We miss ya, Myron." His "Moments" gives him a way to reconnect with fans. As ex-Steeler Randy Grossman, who holds four Super Bowl rings, put it: "There may never be another Myron Cope."
The nearly two-hour DVD makes a great gift for Father's Day.
"Myron's Memorable Moments" - just $18.99, plus tax and shipping, is available on the Web exclusively by clicking here or by calling 1-866-944-4969.
