Neighbors Rush To Rescue Each Other After Bridgeville Fire

Firefighters: Fire Started On Stove Top

BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. —

Neighbors rushed to rescue each other after a blaze broke out at an apartment building in Bridgeville Tuesday night.

Firefighters said the flames started on a stove top in a second-floor apartment and quickly filled the hallways with smoke.

Residents told Channel 11 News the only alarm they heard was a man screaming, telling everyone to get out of the building.

"I heard the screaming and then, boom, someone opened the door and the smoke was insane,” said resident Robert Lambert. “I ran out, and I couldn't see a thing."

The landlord claims there were operational fire alarms. Firefighters said the damage was contained to one apartment.

One person was sent to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
