New Bill Passed For Autism Insurance

HARRISBURG —

Pennsylvania lawmakers have passed a new bill on autism insurance.

The new plan will make it possible for the parents of autistic children to be able to pay for behavioral therapy with private health insurance.

The plan will be put into effect next year.

The legislation is expected to save the Medicaid program $13 million during the 2009-20 fiscal year.

The bill will now go to Gov. Ed Rendell's desk.
