No Life-Threatening Injuries After Rte. 422 Army Bus, Truck Crash

SLIPPERY ROCK TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A U.S. Army bus collided with a truck carrying a crane in Lawrence County late Monday morning.

Police said the truck driver pulled into the center lane of Route 422 near Church Road in Slippery Rock Township. The bus driver swerved, slammed on the brakes and struck the truck.

Channel 11 News spoke with a nurse who watched the accident happen. Afterward, she immediately went to help the Army bus driver.

“The guys lift me up to the bus, and I took his vitals … he was in and out (of consciousness),” said witness Lynne Riding. “They called 911, and we put him on the gurney and got him out through the window.”

Officials said two people, including the bus driver, were injured in the accident, but their injuries are both non-life-threatening. They were taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle. Their names have not been released.

Authorities said the Army bus was en route to a New Castle garage for repairs.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
