County Executive Dan Onorato officially announced that he will not run for re-election on Thursday. Target 11 first reported the news on Tuesday.
During a news conference Onorato did not release much information about his future plans, but Target 11 investigator Rick Earle reports that he's considering running for State Auditor General in 2012.
Onorato took office in 2004, defeating then County Executive Jim Roddey. He lost the governor's race to Tom Corbett last y ear.
Onorato said that he will serve the remainder of his term while concentrating on Marcellus Shale exploration at the airport and property reassessments.
