BALDWIN, Pa. —
One parent told Channel 11 that her kindergarten-age child had to stand on the bus. Mary Odato said it takes her children nearly an hour to get home from school.
"We live 3 1/2 minutes from the school and it takes 45 minutes to and from school," said Odato.
"It's overcrowded. I will not let her ride the bus if it is unsafe," said another parent, Dan Hillgartner.
Baldwin Schools Superintendent, Lawrence Korchnak said the schools do not have any buses that are over capacity but he understands the parents' concerns.
"The children don't have to stand on the buses. But when the buses were scheduled, we never scheduled more children than the capacity of the bus," said Korchnak. "We understand their concerns, in fact, we have heard a number of their complaints are very legitimate ones."
Korchnak said they are addressing the problem and hope to have it fixed within the next few days.
