Owner Uses Extension Cord For A/C Unit; House Catches Fire

MCKEESPORT, Pa. —

A house fire broke out in McKeesport on Wednesday, and the owner told Channel 11 News what caused it.

The fire broke out at 1917 Grandview Ave. in McKeesport around 11 a.m.

The homeowner said he was running an air conditioning unit through a regular extension cord.

An electrical overload caused the cord to catch fire, officials said.

All occupants in the house got out safely, and the fire was extinguished.
