The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Sunday the opening of the 31st Street and Route 28 interchange on Monday, Nov. 25.
The Route 28 ramps in both directions at the 31st Street Bridge will open to traffic around 9 a.m. Monday, however Rialto Street will remain closed throughout the winter months.
The completed work was part of the $36.4 million Route 28 Phase IV improvement project. Work in the project included widening and reconstruction to provide a new grade-separated interchange at the 31st Street Bridge. Roadway reconstruction, a new median barrier and signal installation are just a few of the many improvements to the roadway.
