Pipe Bomb Found On Pitt Campus

No One Hurt

PITTSBURGH —

The bomb squad was called to the University of Pittsburgh campus overnight.

A Channel 11 News crew was the only one there to capture the video.

A Pitt police officer walking was walking his beat around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday when he found a pipe outside the Student Union at Fifth and Bigelow.

Pittsburgh Police Lt. Ed Trapp said, "We had to keep people back so no one could get close to the area. The EOD Team determined what was a safe distance. Fortunately, this time of night we didn't have to evacuate."

The pipe has been determined to be safe. There were no evacuations.

Police are continuing their investigation.
