PITTSBURGH —

One man is facing charges of assaulting a baby girl.

Medics were called to the home along Herman Street in Troy Hill around 11 p.m. Thursday after the baby's mother returned from work to find her daughter unresponsive.

The 10-month-old had been in the care of the mother's live-in boyfriend, 30-year-old Clinton Smith. When emergency crews arrived, they found the child in cardiac arrest and noticed bruises on her body.

Smith is accused of physically and sexually assaulting the baby.

She is now in critical condition at Children's Hospital.
