Pittsburgh On List Of Top Destinations For '08

Publisher Highlights City's Art Scene

PITTSBURGH —

Pittsburgh was chosen as one of 13 places around the world worthy of visiting in 2008, by Frommer's, a travel guide publisher.

Each year, the whole editorial team gets together to make the list. They start talking about under-the-radar, unique and interesting places that they think is worth visiting in the next year and recommend these places to travelers.

According to Frommer’s spokeswoman Adrienne Fontaine, Pittsburgh made the list mostly because of the art scene, especially, the Carnegie Museums, and the fact that the Steel City celebrated its 250th birthday.

This was the first year that Pittsburgh made the list. Other destinations that made the list included St. Lucia, Romania, Bras d'Or Lakes, Nova Scotia.

Last April, Pittsburgh was named America's Most Livable City by Places Rated Almanac.
