Pittsburgh Police said an officer fatally shot a 19-year-old man after he fired at a police dog Tuesday night in Mt. Oliver.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. on 18th Street and Arlington Avenue.

Police said Justin Jackson fired several shots at a German Shepard K-9 officer after Jackson was asked to show his hands.

Pittsburgh Police Chief Nate Harper said officers then returned fire. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The K-9 officer was taken to a local animal hospital for treatment but later died.
