Pittsburgh Rated Most Livable, Sootiest City In America

PITTSBURGH —

The American Lung Association said Pittsburgh, the nation's most livable city, is also the nation's sootiest city.

Soot, or short-term particle pollution, is one category the association uses to measure pollution levels.

Los Angeles still tops the list as the country's most overall polluted city. Fargo, N.D., and Salinas, Cal., are listed as the cleanest cities in the country.

The study warns that if the trend continues Pittsburgh’s rating could get worse.
