Pittsburgh Woman Claims Sales Training Was 'Religious'

PITTSBURGH —

A woman said she was denied sales leads and branded an atheist by a Beaver County bathroom remodeling business when she objected to the sales training she said amounted to religious indoctrination.

An official with Bath Fitter of Pittsburgh denies the claims in Jo A. Yochum's federal lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday. The company official said Yochum even appeared in an ad that claimed the sales training tripled her income and improved her personal life.

But Yochum's attorney said she was shunned by the company, denied new leads and as a result, effectively fired in October 2009.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages from Bath Fitter of Pittsburgh, which is actually based in nearby Center Township and the training program, Partners Through People Inc. and various officials with both companies.
