BELLE VERNON, Pa. —
Westmoreland County detectives said Heather Prinkey, 36, acknowledged having a sexual relationship with the girl, who was 13 when the alleged incidents began in May 2008.
She was jailed on charges including statutory sexual assault before posting bond Friday.
Prinkey was the coach of Belle Vernon Bombshells, a softball league for girls under 16. Parents said they were shocked and saddened by the recent charges filed against her.
Prinkey was arrested this week and taken to the Westmoreland County Jail, where she is facing charges of sexually assaulting the girl.
According to the criminal complaint, the sexual assaults happened at Prinkey’s home on Henry Street. Police said Prinkey assaulted the teen for a year and a half when the victim would have sleepovers with Prinkey’s child.
Prinkey faces felony sex charges, including endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors.
Channel 11 learned that Prinkey resigned from the borough council last week. She is being held on $250,000 bond.
