Police: Husband To Be Charged In Wife's Stabbing

PITTSBURGH —

Pittsburgh police plan to charge a man in the stabbing death of his wife and attempted homicide of a female relative in the city’s Perry North neighborhood.

Police said Victoria Davis, 53, was found dead with multiple stab wounds in the upstairs bedroom of the couple's Richey Avenue home early Wednesday morning. Her husband, Joseph Davis, 54, and her niece, Helena Harris, were found outside with stab wounds. Police also said the couple's 9-year-old son was at the house, but he was not injured.

"We're not sure if he witnessed the attacks, but he saw the results,” Daniel Herrmann of the Pittsburgh Police Department said. .

Police said Joseph Davis was found stabbed in the hallway of the home, holding a liquor bottle. He was rushed to Allegheny General Hospital for surgery, police said. He's in critical condition.

Police said they’ll charge Davis with homicide and attempted homicide and transport him to the Allegheny County Jail when he is medically cleared to leave the hospital.

Harris was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition.

Police said they believe the incident started as a domestic dispute between the Davises. Neighbors said Harris ran across the street banging on doors for help.

"Police arrived and found (a) 56-year-old female on (the) porch bleeding from stab wounds,” said Herrmann.

The Davises were known in the neighborhood as hardworking, quiet, good people, neighbors said.
