Police: Man Tried To Lure Teen In Wilmerding

WILMERDING, Pa. —

North Versailles police are searching for a man they said tried to lure a 13-year-old girl in Wilmerding on Tuesday.

The man was driving what is described as a dirty, turquoise Ford Aerostar van manufactured between 1995 and 2000.

The teen said she was walking home from school on Card Avenue when the man inside the van made some inappropriate comments to her.

“Asking her about her age, basically telling her he wanted to show her something. She noticed he had a white rag or shirt over his pants in his lap area and under that she saw he had blue shorts on. He never did remove the cloth,” said North Versailles police Chief James Comunale.

Comunale said the girl described the man as black with a bald head and heavy set.

Police said the suspect definitely rattled the girl.

"She was upset because she's 13, he told her she looked 20, ...things like, she has a nice body," Comunale said.

The girl did the right thing and ran away, but she and her neighbors now remain on alert.

If you see a van similar to the one described you’re asked to contact police.
