FREEDOM, Pa. —
Freedom police said the most recent luring incident happened on the northbound side of Route 65.
Police said a 17-year-old girl was walking near the 65 on ramp Tuesday morning when a man in a white minivan stopped and offered her a ride.
The girl told police that the driver "didn't want to take no for an answer," but sped off when another driver approached the on ramp.
Investigators said there have been six attempted luring over a three-week period. The attempted luring have been reported in Freedom, Bethel Park, Mount Lebanon, Carnegie, Dormont and North Fayette.
In all of the cases, police said the children described a white van to be involved.
Police in those neighborhoods said they have stepped up patrols. Wednesday, four departments met with county officials who have assigned two crime investigators to the cases.
Dormont police Sgt. James Burke said finding the person or people involved in these cases has been challenging, that is why the local police departments have asked county police for help.
"They have countywide jurisdiction and more resources than we do," said Burke.
