Police Say Cranberry Man Went Into Rage Over Cigarette Prices

SAXONBURG, Pa. —

A Cranberry Township man faces charges after going into a rage over the price of cigarettes.

Police say 22-year-old Chad Sutter walked into Bogacz’s Market on Saxonburg Boulevard on Wednesday morning to buy cigarettes.

Store clerks said when he found out how much the price had gone up he began shouting at them.

They called state police, who cited Sutter for disorderly conduct.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Back in March the major tobacco companies increased the price of cigarettes sold to wholesalers.

Then on Wednesday a new federal tax of a $1.01 per pack went into effect.

That brought the price of cigarettes to $6 to $7 a pack in Pennsylvania.
