Police: Worker Said He Liked 'Looking At Naked Women' Through Peephole

BEAVER, Pa. —

A Beaver County courthouse employee was charged with invasion of privacy on Wednesday after an apparent peephole was found in a bathroom.

According to the criminal complaint, Daniel Caul, of Harmony Township, admitted to knowing the hole was there for two years and viewing 20 to 25 females using the toilet. Police said Caul did not admit to drilling the hole.

“The group of people that had keys, it was limited. So right off the bat, we knew there were a limited amount of people we had to talk to. And the investigation went on, and we focused in on Dan,” said Beaver County District Attorney Tony Berosch.

The peephole was discovered by a cleaning crew earlier this month. The hole was drilled near a vent in a unisex bathroom near the adult probation office and looked out of an electrical closet.

County Commissioner Tony Amadio said other bathrooms in the courthouse were searched but nothing suspicious was found.

"It is an invasion of privacy at the most intimate level," said Amadio.

Officials said Caul, who worked in the courthouse maintenance department for 20 years, has been fired.

According to the police paperwork, Caul said he did it because he “likes looking at naked women.”

Detectives said they found fingerprints, cheek and forehead prints in the room.

Neighbors described Caul, a volunteer firefighter, as a nice guy.
