PUMP's 'Stay And Play' Promotes Market Square Events

PITTSBURGH —

The Pittsburgh Urban Management Project (PUMP) in partnership with Dunkin' Donuts designed a publicity stunt to help raise awareness of the weekly Market Square events called Play and Stay Fridays.

The stunt: More than 100 volunteers arrived in Market Square around noon. The participants were then given neon-collored shirts that sported the "Stay and Play" logo. At exactly 12:30 p.m., a car horn sounded three times and everyone in a "Play and Stay" shirt froze in whatever position they chose. For five minutes the participants held their postures until the car horn sounded again, ending the publicity stunt.

Stay and Play Fridays run from May 23 until Aug. 1 from 5 to 9 p.m. The weekly events will feature live music, drink specials, and exciting activities all in the confines of historical Market Square.
