Ravenstahl Responds To Accusations Of NYC Trip With Pens' Owner

Mayor Flies On Ron Burkle's Private Jet

PITTSBURGH —

For the second time in three months, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is coming under fire for not being up-front and honest.

Hours after a news conference last week announcing the deal for a new arena, Ravenstahl flew to New York City on Penguins owner Ron Burkle's private jet.

When questioned by a reporter about the trip, Ravenstahl denied going to New York.

He later changed his story.

So why did Ravenstahl flip flop?

He said the reporter didn't ask the right question.

According to Ravenstahl, it wasn't a Penguins trip but a campaign trip.

Last fall, Target 11’s Rick Earle questioned him about an incident at Heinz Field.

Then several months later he admitted he was indeed detained by police at Heinz Field.

No charges were filed and he said it was a misunderstanding.

"When I'm asked a question I’ve been honest with the media from day one," said Ravenstahl.
