Robbery Attempt Turns Into Shooting In Swissvale

SWISSVALE, Pa. —

Police followed reports of gunfire to a Swissvale address when an alleged robbery turned ugly.

Allegheny 911 dispatchers said one person was shot on Woodstock Avenue.

A witness said two suspects tried to rob a group of men and they all began fighting.

"Two guys came down the steps outta nowhere. And when they came down the steps I guess they were going particularly for one guy, and I guess they came to rob him," said Becky Smith.

At some point during the struggle, one of the men produced a weapon and began shooting.

Two people were taken to a hospital. Their names and conditions were not released.

An arrest was made at the scene. Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating.
