Robert Morris University To Help Veterans With Tuition

With its new military service award, Robert Morris University will cover what's left in tuition for veterans after their federal tuition subsidy is used.

The federal money covers the highest tuition at any public school in the state. Since RMU is private, they'll make up the difference in cost for their tuition.

Currently, 130 veterans take classes at RMU and its President Gregory Dell'Omo said there is no limit on future applications.

“We have not put any caps on the number of vets. We'll take, if you apply and you are qualified, undergraduate, masters and even doctorate, and you're eligible under the new GI bill, we'll take as many as we can,” said Dell’Omo.

Under the GI bill, you’ll qualify if you have been a vet since Sept. 10, 2001, and you've had more than 90 days of active service. If you have less in terms of service, you will still receive some money.

“We see this as a continuation in giving back to the men and women of the armed forces to really help them complete their education, particularly at a private school that is small that can give them a lot of attention and has a history of working with the vets,” said Dell’Omo.
