Route 8 Shut Down For Hours After Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident

HARRISVILLE, Pa. —

State police said Route 8, at the Butler-Venango County line, was shut down for hours as they investigated a fatal accident.

A father of a 20-month-old girl was killed after his car swerved into the path of a tractor-trailer, police said. The girl and her mother, both of whom were also in the car, remarkably survived.

Police said that the car crossed the center line several times on Route 8, a two-lane road, before driving into an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The truck driver, driving out of Grove City, was not at fault, state police said. He suffered minor injuries in the collision.
