Sen. Specter Backs Stimulus Bill, Angers Local Residents

CRANBERRY, Pa. —

Republican Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter broke ranks with Republicans and voted for President Barack Obama’s stimulus package.

That move angered some of Specter’s constituents and they showed that anger on Thursday when Specter made an appearance in Cranberry Township, Butler County.

Several people disrupted a news conference the senator was giving.

Specter let the protesters air their complaints and then defended his position.
