PITTSBURGH —
Allegheny County dispatch workers said the blaze began at about 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Broadway Boulevard.
Firefighters said the fire started in a garbage can near a gas meter. Utility workers said they shut off gas service to one block, because the meter was damaged. Workers said they will return later in the day to repair the meter.
This was the second fire in two days in the same block.
The first fire happened Tuesday morning. Two buildings were damaged and had to be demolished.
Both fires are being investigated by the fire marshal.
