PITTSBURGH —
A hearing will be held Thursday afternoon to decide if three promoted officers will remain in their positions.
This comes after the newly promoted officers were accused of domestic abuse in the past.
The Pennsylvania National Organization for Women released a statement on Wednesday night.
The group is calling upon Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, Police Chief Nate Harper and the Pittsburgh City Council to rescind the promotions.
The mayor met with members of the City County Women's Commission on Wednesday.
Now, he's promising changes. He said there will be tougher guidelines for promotions.
Ravenstahl said he's considering pulling the promotions and has already been in touch with the law department.
“I want to make sure I have all the information at my disposal before I make a decision,” Ravenstahl said.
Police union attorney Bryan Campbell said, "I think it would be a futile act on his part if he did it."
Campbell also says if the mayor attempts to pull the promotions, he's prepared to go to court.
The public hearing will be held at 1 p.m.
