Squirrel Hill Man's Body Found Bound, Shot In Head On North Side

PITTSBURGH —

Pittsburgh police have identified a man who was found bound and fatally shot behind a recreation center on the North Side Monday morning.

Police said Lee Schwartz, 53, of Squirrel Hill, had a gunshot wound to the head.

Officers found Schwartz around 7:15 a.m. after someone reported seeing three people dump a body behind a recreation center near Hazlett Street, police said. The witness left before officers arrived, police said.

North Side resident Bill Mitchell said his teenage son walks past the recreation center as a short cut to get to his school bus stop.

"It's really scary," Mitchell said. "Too close to home for us."

Mitchell said his son will have to find another route to the bust stop.

"He's not going to use this way again no more now," Mitchell said.

No one has been arrested. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
